Child sponsorship
Courage for children
Challenge
Countless children and young people not only grow up in poverty, but also in a violent environment. They are beaten, sexually exploited, traded as cheap commodities, or traumatised in wars. Disabled children are neglected or hidden away. Their parents are ashamed; they are too poor or too burdened to be able to address the special needs of their disabled child. Children have a right to love, protection and care. Every single child that has to suffer violence, abuse or neglect is one too many. We must protect these children from violence, and give them new courage in a non-violent environment.
Caritas aid
With the child sponsorship «Courage for children», a variety of projects receive support:
- Children in Cambodia are protected from abuse and exploitation
- In Colombia, Venezuelan refugee children are given integration support
- In Mali, the rights of migrating children are strengthened to protect them from smuggling, human trafficking, and exploitation
With just one Swiss franc per day, you enable the protection, support and care of traumatised children. Become a child sponsor and give traumatised children new courage as well as a non-violent and independent life.
Support in Cambodia: New prospects for Sri
«My family was very poor. When a neighbour offered my parents to take me to Thailand as an au pair, they agreed. I was only seven years old. In Thailand, my life was hell. I had to go out to beg day and night. If I didn’t bring back sufficient money, I was beaten and given no food. After five years, I managed to escape. Thanks to Caritas, I now have a safe home and can go to school.»
