ALDI SUISSE sells articles under the Caritas label in order to donate the profit to the Caritas Fund for families in Switzerland who suffer or are at risk of suffering poverty.
Since 2020, Sunrise UPC has worked with Caritas to promote the digital participation of people affected by or at risk of poverty in Switzerland. In practice, this involves enabling access to the online world and developing digital skills. For people who are living at or below the subsistence level, this enables more active participation in society and gives them a better chance of finding work.
As part of the rebranding of the brand Ben’s Original™ and the new brand promise of ‘A Seat at the Table for Everyone’, Mars Switzerland enters into a project partnership with Caritas Switzerland: Together with Caritas, Mars works to promote the ‘Bon Lieu’ project and thus supports families experiencing poverty by giving them access to healthy meals in the restaurant. In practice, we jointly enable the realization of four new Bon Lieu restaurants. Thanks to a differentiated price structure, less privileged families and people in need can experience a family meal, for example, in a welcoming environment. This promotes social integration and gives people an opportunity to participate in normal life.
The SV Foundation backs projects that promote healthy nutrition. It supports the Caritas Market and enables people affected by poverty to buy fruit and vegetables at low prices. With the BonLieu project, the SV Foundation enables people with little money to have a meal at a restaurant, and supports gastronomy enterprises that give socially disadvantaged people a job.
Migros sets a strong example of solidarity with people in need in Switzerland. During the Christmas period, it focuses attention on the weakest among us with its Christmas campaign. It collects donations for projects to alleviate poverty in Switzerland. The donations are distributed entirely to Caritas Switzerland and four other aid organisations.
In addition, Migros strives to ensure, through its food deliveries, that people affected by poverty can buy goods at very affordable prices in the Caritas Markets throughout Switzerland. Finally, the Migros magazine regularly features the issue of poverty in Switzerland and thus raises the awareness of its many readers about this controversial topic.
Reinsurance company Partner Reinsurance Europe supports Swiss mountain farming families via its own corporate voluntary service programme, through which its employees can join a family for a day and lend a hand with labour-intensive work. This not only relieves the work burden on mountain farms, but also creates valuable encounters between Reinsurance Europe employees and the families. In addition, Partner Reinsurance Europe provides financial support for the funding of the Caritas Mountain Farmer Volunteer Support Programme (Bergeinsatz): thanks to this programme sponsorship, volunteers, male or female, can be placed for a full week’s assignment within mountain farming families who find themselves in an emergency or other stressful situation, thus providing them with valuable support.
