Peter Lack is 53 years old and lives in Birsfelden. He studied theology at the universities of Lucerne, Berkeley (USA) and Fribourg and graduated with a licentiate. He completed postgraduate studies in association and NPO management at the university of Fribourg.
In his professional career, Peter Lack was active in pastoral care in hospitals and with Aids patients and worked as a coach and supervisor as well as a lecturer and author on medical ethics issues. Thereafter, he was involved for many years in the management of various non-profit organisations, including as managing director of the Gesellschaft für das Gute und Gemeinnützige (GGG) Basel (Society for the good and the common benefit), as manager of the Foundation for children suffering from cancer at the Regio Basiliensis and as CEO of Kinderkrebs Schweiz (Childhood Cancer Foundation). Peter Lack is currently Director of the Swiss Samaritan Federation.
Peter Lack brings with him a wealth of education, training and experience, as well as a wide range of competences. His management experience in association management in particular is very valuable. As the general project manager, he successfully initiated and implemented the reorganisation and strategic realignment of the Swiss Samaritan Federation.
Peter Lack will take up his position on 19 April 2022 and succeeds Peter Marbet, who left Caritas Switzerland in August 2021. The Steering Committee of Caritas Switzerland is convinced that with Peter Lack, we have found a person who is fully committed to the issues and concerns of Caritas and who will continue to develop Caritas Switzerland.
